We are an independent Christian church. We are not a denomination but are loosely connected with many similar churches throughout the world.

Our origin can be traced to a small group of Christians who separated from the established Church of England in the early 1800s in order to focus on the Bible as the basis of the Christian faith and to escape from the rituals and ceremony in the formal churches. We are often referred to by the Christian community as "assembly of brethren " or, simply,  "the brethren"  - a phrase linked to the early New Testament church of the Bible.

We are Christians from all walks of life who take the Bible seriously.  We are not a sect. We do not have strange beliefs; we simply believe that God is real and that the Bible is one of the keys to finding out more about Him. The Bible claims that it is inspired by God and our faith, our services and our daily lives are therefore based on what it says.
